Similar to what an infographic company does in their infographic projects, acting – heavy storyboards might be necessary if there are very specific actions that the director wants the animator to follow. The relationship between animation director and animator is very important. It shares many similarities to the relationship of the live-action director and actor.

The animator is essentially an actor communicating emotions through the character that he or she has been assigned. Like an actor, an animator may have a strong idea or feeling about how a character should or would behave in a particular situation. The director and animator should always work closely together to achieve the most effective performance. It is in this phase of production that a director and animator will solve most of the problems that may arise.
