The relationship between animation director and animator is very important. It shares many similarities to the relationship of the live-action director and actor.
The animator is essentially an actor communicating emotions through the character that he or she has been assigned. Like an actor, an animator may have a strong idea or feeling about how a character should or would behave in a particular situation. The director and animator should always work closely together to achieve the most effective performance. It is in this phase of production that a director and animator will solve most of the problems that may arise.
